Gallery news

The free quarterly magazine of Auckland Art Gallery is available at the information desks at both Galleries. It backgrounds and illustrates exhibitions, and provides a calendar of public programme events.

Catalogues documenting exhibitions and other publications are available at the Gallery Shop.

Our Public Programmes offer a wide range of responses to exhibitions by curators, artists and others as well as holiday programmes and other hands-on opportunities for students.


Guidelines for your students

The Auckland Art Gallery is a special kind of public space and, to ensure the safety of unique art works and the enjoyment of other visitors, we appreciate you making your students aware of the following requirements:

  • No work or frame may be touched - keeping 1 metre from any work is a good guide for all visitors. Sometimes barriers or floor lines indicate a safe distance from the work. Do not use pen or pencils to point at details in paintings!
  • No running in the Gallery - or other behaviour that could result in harm to fragile art works.
  • Consider other Gallery visitors - they have also come to look at, and enjoy the works of art.
  • Please leave bags at school where possible.
  • Enjoy your visit to the Gallery.
