Auckland Art Gallery's volunteer guides have brought our remarkable collection of artworks to life for over 20 years. We are about to enter a new chapter in our history with the opening of our redeveloped gallery in 2011 and we are looking for applicants now for our training course intake in 2010. This will be the most exciting and challenging time to begin this role at Auckland Art Gallery, bringing art and people together in our beautiful new galleries and their surroundings. In 2011, we will be offering interactive tours that will address not only our magnificent collection displays but also the unique elements of our building, its historical and cultural significance and its environment. You will interact with a diverse range of visitors experiencing the gallery for the first time – travellers, locals, senior students and interest groups. Our training course will provide you with a unique insight into the gallery, its collection and functions as well as developing the skills essential for presenting engaging tours. The Gallery requires a two-year commitment of your time, hard work and enthusiasm; in return, we offer the rewards of a shared knowledge and passion for art among colleagues and visitors.
