| The Gallery has established the Auckland Art Gallery Foundation -
a charitable trust whose principal aim is to raise the additional
capital required to support Auckland City's development of the Art
Gallery.
The Auckland Art Gallery Foundation will work with individuals,
trusts and
the corporate sector to encourage support for the development, and
will also organise major fundraising events and activities to support
the project.
Raising the money
The total cost of the project is $121 million. Of this, Auckland City Council has committed $56.1 million. The balance comes from a central government commitment of $30 million (plus an additional $1.5 million in interest on this sum), and from the Auckland Art Gallery Foundation who have committed to raising $33.4 million.
