Rhona Haszard: An experimental expatriate artist
traces the development of this outstanding New Zealander, from her
early beginnings at art school, through her style-changing
discoveries overseas, to her experimental prints and mature
monumental canvases. The show promises the revelation of new
visual material. It includes works from private collections that
have never been exhibited in New Zealand, and offers fresh
insights into the progressive and innovative nature of Haszard's
oeuvre.
This exhibition celebrates a woman whose work was outstanding
in its time, both in terms of its international recognition, and
its important influence on the development of early New Zealand
modernism.
This exhibition is curated by Dr Joanne
Drayton, organised and toured by the Hocken Library.
