Bauhaus Photography
28 June-14 September 2003

For a few charmed years between the two World Wars the Bauhaus, founded by architect Walter Gropius, became Germany's leading avant garde art school and was a testing ground for the combined efforts of artists, artisans and industrial designers.

This show presents an extensive range of brilliant photographic work documenting all of the teaching activities at the Bauhaus.

The exhibition is organised by Germany's Institut for Foreign Affairs, Ifa, and is being toured by the Goethe Institut. Curator Wulf Herzogenrath has selected 124 prints by over 40 photographers.

The selection ranges from spontaneously amateur to compositionally professional creations, from the everyday snapshot to the carefully devised advertising image.
