Private Gifts

Throughout the 20th century the Gallery has benefited from gifts received from leading citizens. These have included international works by Tissot, Frederic Lord Leighton and Millais, as well as New Zealand works. Individual artists such as Colin McCahon, Gretchen Albrecht and Marti Friedlander have also made very generous gifts of their work to the Gallery.
